What are the socioeconomic disadvantages of illegal immigration into the U.S?
I'm doing an exposition on illegal immigration in the US. I would like to know, how you Americans, feel about immigration, but more specifically, in what NEGATIVE ways does this phenomenon affects your country? Immigrant families help the federal government's finances in the long run. Growth in the U.S.-born population is slowing, which is one reason Social Security faces a future deficit. But immigration increases the working-age population that pays into Social Security. Furthermore, illegal immigrants who give employers fake Social Security numbers cannot receive benefits from the system.
According to calculations by the Center for Economic and Policy Research based on data from the Social Security Trustees report, if U.S. immigration averages 1.3 million people a year in the future instead of 900,000, it will reduce Social Security's long-term deficit by 14 percent.
...what the school system spends on his children's education can also be viewed as an investment in the next generation of U.S. workers.

Hispanics Hoping To Show Economic Power w/Boycott
Southern Methodist University Finance and Economics Professor Mike Davis says jobs in the construction and service sectors have fueled the financial lives of north Texas immigrants over the past decade and elevated the region's economy.
But one need only look inside the schools of north Texas to see the real economic impact of the future.
“But I think the really big implication for immigration isn't this year or the next, its one generation down the road,” Davis says. “The really important question to ask is, are these children being educated, are they graduating from high school, are they learning English. Are they becoming part of the mainstream economy?”
With Hispanics now more than 40% of the population in Dallas and more than 60% of the public school system population, Davis says they are the labor force and the buyer of goods of the future.
If today's ban on buying doesn't showcase that power, the spending of the future will.

I just read through the Federal Reserve statement and I cannot find the mention of Skilled workers as you mentioned.
I do agree with you. There is an influx of people that are taking advantage of the system and the schools and hospitals are taking a beating. I am not saying that illegal immigration is 100% good for the US. The reason for that is the low wages, taxes these people pay, if they pay at all, would not cover what they are using. But don't forget, the numbers I gave were from the spending. Also, the future benefit would be their children staying in school and bringing skilled labor to the economy. There absolutely needs to be reform and the borders do need to be better controlled. Also, people that are here to work need to stay and become legal, education should be an incentive. People that are here to take advantage of welfare and free services, or commit crimes need to be monitored and possibly deported. There abosultely are pros and cons. As far as legal versus illegal, I do understand the difference, my info was based on illegal immigrants since most of them want to become legal, but it is not as easy as most people think.
