Interesting postulate, since both of the graphs represented in my first 2 links were drawn directly from the raw data I referenced.
Your article is also interesting, but it only points out that strong El Nino events will bleach coral. They generally recover quickly after such events, like the one we just had, and the one back in 1998. The coral have a symbiotic relationship with mucus associated bacteria that are more susceptible to temperature change than the coral itself. http://imars.usf.edu/~carib/Public/RitchieMEPS322.pdf
The coral adapt quickly to long term changes as new bacteria take root. This is why coral exists in places that are very warm like the Red Sea despite that bleaching occurs in other places at similar temperatures. http://www.int-res.com/articles/meps/171/m171p131.pdf
These sudden El Nino events have nothing to do with climate change, and have always had this effect.
