They drain what ever profits made until it really is losing ground as a self supporting public service. Most of the mail I get is bulk rated and unwanted, seems to me it clutters up our post office buildings and takes from the time and energy needed to sort and distribute,and adds burden to the overhead expense. They used to raise the stamp price about every two years, now it is every two months, just to feed the gapping mouth of congress.
No. The failure of the postal system is because it hasn't changed with the times. Their idea is to just keep raising rates and losing more business in the process. I used to sell things on Ebay and was in the P.O. all the time. Now that they have raised the rates twice, I don't bother and they have lost my business forever. People pay bills online now. The P.O. is just another example of a poorly run government business. Government never does anything better than the private sector.
