Good books on Native American Legends?
I am working on a story about Wendigos, a Native American legendary creature of the wind. Has anyone run across them in books about folklore? I have some info from the net but little verifiable sources other than other fiction and some general websites. Thanks.
You are going to have a difficult time finding any accurate information for what you seek. Most Native people keep their stories to themselves. Like you said, the internet is not a good source. You could ask the people of the tribe whose legend you are interested in if they will help you, but don't get your hopes up.
Do you even know what tribe speaks of the Wendigo? I think it is the Ojibwa. You might post a question on YAs specifically to the Ojibwa about this legend and see if you get any answers.
