What is the retail value of this 1899 note & how much would you pay for it if you could buy it?
I was wondering how much I should pay for the note described below and how much it's retail value is...? I realize you can't see it, but it's a 66, so imagine perfection.
1899 $1 Dollar Silver Certificate & Certified by PMG @ 66 EPQ Gem Uncirculated. Strongly Embossed with Wonderful Margins and a Two Digit Serial Number. It's serial number is T30A.
The Friedberg Number is FR-236 and the signatures are Speelman & White.
Please give a source as to how you got the retail value of this note. Thank you!
That note you saw on eBay is a nice note but overpriced at $4K. Two of the same grade PMG sold recently for about $1100. The highest graded examples I found at an auction site that specializes in coins/currency were a PMG 64 at $500 and a PCGS 64 at $600, so $1000 to $1200 for a 66 sounds about right.
Now, the low serial number is desirable to certain collectors and worth a premium. I don't know currency well enough to know what the premium might be, but this seller is shooting for the moon, in my opinion.
