Can a note be used for my son to drive his date to prom?
My son is a 17 year old junior in high school and he's going to prom this year. He understandably wants to drive himself and his date to the dance, which is only a few miles away. The problem is is that he has only had his license for about 3 months so he legally cannot drive minors. I know that under some circumstances the guardian can write a note for the child to drive minors but would this be one of those cases? Thanks.

In California, yes. One exception on the restriction states:
Schooling or school-authorized activity. The note must be signed by your school principal, dean, or designee.
