What are the best beginner reptiles amphibians or small animals?
They/it will be housed in a class room.
Well if you're not terrified of snakes. The corn snake is a great beginner reptile. Here are the reasons why I love them.
***They are cheap and come in many beautiful morphs. Corns are not hard snakes to find. If you can't find a breeder in your area many pet stores carry them.
***They do not grow to a overwhelming size 3-5 feet is the general length. (Though some individuals do grow to be 6 ft) this is not all that common. They also maintain a slender body, unlike pythons.
***Typically corns are a easily handled calm, slow moving snakes (rarely bitters). Corns and snakes in general really are not demanding of attention or social interaction. So you won't have to feel bad about leaving them alone for long peroids of time, because they are happy to do their own thing.
***The housing requirements of corn snakes is not complex either. A 20 gallon tank is sufficient enough to keep a adut corn. They can also be kept in room temperatures between 65-82 degrees, 75 is a nice happy medium though.
***The adult corn snake will only require one feeder mouse a week! But they do need fresh clean water everyday.
