What are the scissors that come with a knife block set intended to be used for?
Any countertop knife block set that I have owned has always included a pair of scissors. Are these scissors intended to be used to cut food or can are they for cutting open packaging or anything else at all?
They're called kitchen shears. No, you can't cut food with them. They were intended to be used to open food packaging and other tasks you might need scissors for. Why include them? Well, almost always they can be put in the dishwasher. You also might not want raw meat and such on your everyday desk scissors.
