Why On Earth Would Jacqui Smith Be Blocking The Madeleine Enquiry...?
What possible reason does our Home Secretary have to effectively block the continuing Portuguese investigation into Madeleine McCann's disappearance?

Home Secretary Jacqui Smith has been accused of bringing Madeleine McCann investigation to “a stalemate”.
Police in Portugal said the nine-month case has stalled because the Home Office has still not approved their request to re interview the seven friends who dined with Kate and Gerry McCann the night their daughter went missing.
A formal letter was sent to Whitehall on January 7, but according to Portuguese newspaper Correio da Manha there has been so response.
British police cannot carry out the interviews on behalf of their Portuguese counterparts until the request has been rubber-stamped by the Home Secretary.
Elvis, i just dont know what to believe anymore....the word from portugal is that 'Lisbon' havnt sent the letter.....that there is some difficulty with 'enough evidence' to make requests of this nature.....and that it isnt the parents who they want to re-interview, only the 'friends'.....
At the end of the day though, if the 'tapas 9' truly wanted to help 'The Madeleine Enquiry' then letters to the home office requesting re-interviewing wouldnt be needed....they'd all volunteer themselves back to portugal to clear up every last little detail that needed clarifiying.
