Why are American postage stamps so amateurish in design?
The USPS seems to think that the public will only respond to "popular" topics such as movies and cartoon characters.
Don't fell bad for American coins are in the same boat. I guess like the US mint USPS has good designers but the powers to be will not let them do a good job. The great bureaucracy's screw everything up. At least there are some medal designers out there that still produce art. The thing that helped kill stamp collecting is too many types and too many stamp designs. The same is starting to come from the US mint. Most people do not have the money to buy all that is produced. Did you know that the hobbies of stamp collecting and coin collecting are turing gray? Yes most of us are in our 60's and fewer younger people are getting into the hobbies.
