Magic the Gathering: Is a creature a spell?
I was just wondering if a creature was considered a spell and could you destroy it when it was summoned with a card such as Cancel ( counter target spell)?
Everything you do in Magic, other than play a land, is a spell. When you play a creature, you are playing a spell. When you play an artifact or an enchantment, you are playing a spell, and each of these spells can be countered by Cancel. Welcome to the world of Magic, where Blue is the best and most overpowered color, and everyone hates it for very obvious reasons.
However, some cards state that they are not spells, such as the Artifact Land cycle and the only Land Creature in the game, Dryad Arbor.
